Joomla front end edit: practical exercise
Now we go trough the practical example of adding, to an existent article, an image and a text paragraph, with list, ruler and some other basic text formatting.
Open for edition your article, now you should know the basic tools and blocks from our previous tutorial, and let´s start inserting an image.
From the front end editor you have to different possibilities to insert an image:
1) from the icon
on the top bar
2) from the button
below the edition area
The first way is a bit complicated, requires you know some basic html concept and you know the url (web address) of the image you want to show. Clicking the icon
will open a popup where you can digit the url of the image you want to publish, if already uploaded.
There, you can also align the text that will come with the picture (after we´ll see how it works), force the dimensions and give border or spacing.
Now we´ll use the buttom, to upload an image, in a folder created from administrator, and then publish it. Clicking the button
you´ll open also a pop up window, but this time with more features, to upload and insert an image, just clicking, without writing any url. Like any other upload you do on the web (like for mail attachment...),
you can browse you local hard disk, choose the image file and upload to the right folder. When image is uploaded, just click on the thumb: the image URL will appears in his field. Also, there you can set an alignment, a description and a caption. Then click on "Insert", the pop up will close and your image is published.
According to the alignment you set for the image, typing ( or pasting) text after your image, it will be positioned below, rights, left...
Now, we assume in your text is a list: you can use
the bullet or numbered list icons. Just type or paste your list elements as single text row, after mark the rows and click on one of the list icons.
Some other useful basic formatting:
- bold

- italic

- underlined

- tex alignment

-
paragraph

- link

Well, maybe now, to close our new paragraph, we´ll set horizontal rulers under and above: after saving the article, you can have a look at you first joomla work on the front end of your site!
